Why is it worth visiting the seaside in winter
Winter is approaching fast — we are already halfway through December. Do you sometimes feel the same way, that the autumn-winter atmosphere around you makes it hard to stay organized? Maybe today our new article will help you decide where to go, even just for a weekend, to recharge your batteries :).
Here are a few reasons why it’s worth visiting the seaside in winter :).
PEACE AND QUIET
In summer, beaches along the Polish coast and all seaside towns are full of life, and sunbathing usually happens in the company of many other beachgoers :). Of course, everyone has their favorite time of year for holidays — some love warm, sunny August mornings, while others prefer when sea waves from afar bring a touch of cool marine air. This is exactly the season that is also very popular among tourists not only from Poland. Winter stays are perfect for those who need a moment of calm, time to gather their thoughts, and solitary walks along the beach. In the evening, instead of loud nightlife sounds, you’ll meet groups of women, parents with children, and strolling couples. After a long, chilly walk, you can head to a restaurant for mulled wine or relax in a hot sauna and enjoy a moment of true relaxation.
MORE IODINE
As we all know, iodine plays a very important role in our bodies. It provides many valuable elements that positively affect our health and help maintain proper thyroid function. During the autumn-winter season, iodine levels in the air are at their highest, which supports health treatments and overall well-being. Of course, during summer stays you can also benefit from iodine, but its concentration is much lower due to calmer seas and smaller waves. In autumn and winter, the sea is much more dynamic :). High winter waves crashing against the shore create a mist that contains significantly more iodine than summer waves :).
EASY ACCESS
As mentioned above, seaside towns are less crowded during the colder seasons, though they are still visited by tourists. This time of year is ideal for calm and comfortable travel. In summer, we may encounter heavier traffic, although of course reaching the coast is still possible :). Everyone wants to spend their holidays in a special way — and let’s be honest, our sea is beautiful and worth visiting. In autumn and winter, we won’t experience this “phenomenon,” although during the pre-Christmas and New Year period there may still be increased traffic rather than real crowds :).
BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE
The sea is charming in summer as well. However, the winter views awaiting us are truly priceless. Golden beaches and the shoreline covered with a snowy blanket. Every path leading to the beach takes you through trees, shrubs, and promenades covered in white snow. Lovers of hiking and photographers trying to capture the beauty of the Polish seaside know this very well :).
LOWER PRICES
Affordable prices for rooms and apartments, shorter queues, and less waiting time for meals — these are just some of the winter advantages you’ll enjoy by the sea :). Many families choose this time of year precisely because of these benefits and the high iodine content in the air, focusing on improving their health and especially the health of their children :).
WINTER ATTRACTIONS
A completely different image of the beach :). In peace and quiet, you can take a walk along the shoreline, watching winter swimmers — the so-called “morsy” — or groups of people preparing for a bit of cold-water diving :). It takes real courage to immerse yourself in water that is below 10°C at this time of year. You will also often encounter groups of athletes who thrive in the winter seaside climate. It’s perfect for training and maintaining good physical condition.
We hope that the arguments presented above will further encourage you to pack your bags and spend a pleasant weekend with mulled wine or a cup of hot tea in our beautiful Władysławowo. It’s the perfect idea to calm down for a moment and take a break from holiday preparations :).
