This atmosphere will surely enhance your experience :D
Visiting Władysławowo during the long weekend from Halloween to November 2nd, you can witness traditions and rituals very different from those in your hometown. Such trips teach us that other customs can be just as fascinating and intriguing as the ones we’ve practiced since childhood.
We believe it’s worth visiting Apartamenty.in during this holiday to hear legends passed down for centuries and chilling stories from the locals. Kashubian traditions and rituals observed the day after Halloween differ significantly from the usual celebrations. In the past, on All Souls’ Day, groups of men dressed as devils could be seen at cemeteries. They carried traditional Kashubian instruments — devilish fiddles, rattles, clappers, and others — which they used to drive away evil spirits that interfered with the good souls entering the cemetery.
Another old tradition involved children baking and distributing bread to the poor on the eve of All Saints’ Day — All Souls’ Day. Those who received the bread were expected to pray for the deceased from the donors’ families. Do you think that’s the end of the story? Here’s another fascinating detail: locals believed that lost souls wandered the streets after dark on All Souls’ Day. People were advised to stay indoors so as not to disturb them. To help these wandering souls, food was placed on window sills, and fires were lit indoors so they could warm up and drink. In this way, the lost spirits were guided back to their graves.
Until recently, strict rules were observed during this November holiday. People were not allowed to pour out any waste outside the house, let dogs off their chains, make noise, or dance. Silence and respect were maintained.
Wouldn’t you love to hear such a story from an elder living in the Kashubian region? Just come to the sea and head to the Jastarnia peninsula, where locals can share one of these stories — and you’ll get goosebumps when the tale is told!
Do you already have seaside plans for your November holiday? If so, be sure to add this experience to your list :)
See you… if you dare!
