Baltic Project
What comes to your mind when you think of the sea? Our Polish Baltic Sea? Probably the same as most people: the buzz of small streets filled with seasonal beach bars, the smell of fried fish, accompanied by loud and lively music.
The coast wakes up with the first rays of the sun. Slowly, it stirs with the May holiday. The first escapes from the city to listen to the waves and feel the warmth on your skin. The real peak comes in June. Entire families and groups of friends head to the beach to recharge for the year ahead :)
This carefree period lasts until September, until the first school bell, until the end of summer vacations.
But have you ever wondered what happens by the sea in early spring? What happens in small towns when most tourists are still in the big cities?
Spring by the Baltic is just as charming as summer. It is magical and can leave you speechless with its views. You can stand for hours admiring the scenery, breathing in the iodine, which is most abundant in winter and spring. Depending on the weather, you might encounter a storm that swallows the entire beach. The best views are from the dunes or staircases. There are also calm days when the sea stands still, unaffected by the wind, and fishing boats slowly move on the horizon. Can you imagine it? Beautiful, isn’t it?
Spring can also surprise with excellent weather. Some days in April already bring warm sunshine. You can enjoy the quietness of the coast and relax on the beach behind a screen. In the evenings, which are becoming warmer, you can admire the scenery while walking on the dunes.
We would like to invite you to follow and support the Traveling Family project. In cooperation with the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization, the Baltic Project was created to walk the Polish coast with small children – a four-year-old and an eighteen-month-old daughter. Unusual and exciting, isn’t it? What could be better for children than escaping a polluted city straight to forests, dunes, and fresh air filled with iodine? Nothing compares to the Landscape Parks right by the beach.
The first stage is already completed – the family started along the Vistula Spit, covering 50 kilometers in March when temperatures were still below zero. The next stage is the walk from Gdynia to Słupsk. Of course, it won’t be dozens of kilometers every day, from dawn to dusk. The Traveling Family will visit the most interesting places along the way: museums, restaurants, hotels, with reviews on their blog to help others plan trips to the sea.
Ms. Magda and her family will reach us on March 16. On that day, they will arrive in Władysławowo and have a short rest in our apartments. We will do our best to contribute, even in a small way, to such a large and demanding undertaking.
We encourage you to follow their journey and read about their stay with us.
